SUNDAY SCHOOL: During state school term time, our Sunday School is held at Victoria Street - our youth and children begin worship with their families and the congregation in church. Following the Early Word and Prayer for Children we move to the hall for our Sunday School lessons. All school age children and youth are invited to attend, and we welcome any visiting children who would like to join us.
COFFEE CHAT'N'PLAY: Is an activity for pre-school children and parents/carers in the Victoria Street hall between 10.30am and noon each Friday.
YOUTH GROUP: Meets once a month on a Friday evening in the church hall. Details available by contacting the church office on 9354-1641.
COMBINED MEN’S GROUP. Men from Coburg and Ascot Vale congregations meet on the second Saturday of the month to share a meal and hold a discussion. Details are available by contacting the church office on 9354-1641.
MUSIC: Instrumentalists, the Youth Band and “The Winter Months” trio participate in the Services from time to time. These joyous and meaningful contributions are a valued part of our worship.
OUR OUTREACH PROGRAMS:
The Congregation supports Uniting Church welfare programs through appeals such as those Uniting, the SHARE appeal, Frontier Services and Uniting World, regular donations to the Uniting Church’s Mission and Service Fund, as well as the National Council of Churches in Australia’s Christmas Bowl Appeal.
On the first Sunday of each month contributions to assist in the work of the Brunswick Asylum Seekers' Centre are collected. The most appropriate items include Basmatic rice, tea, coffee, biscuits, energy saving globes, toilet paper, laundry powder, dishwashing liquid and multi-purpose cleaning products, scrubs/steel wool, saving razors and public transport cards.
LISTENING EAR: This group provides a place for anyone doing it tough or anyone who would like to drop in for a cuppa and a chat on a Wednesday morning between 10am –and midday in the foyer of the hall.
CHURCH FLICKS: Meets on the third Tuesday of the month in the church hall. The next screening will be in February 2019.
SOCIAL COMMITTEE: The members arrange a variety of social activities with the main focus of enhancing our fellowship with one another.
WORSHIP COMMITTEE: This group meets on the 4th Thursday of the month.
SAMMY STAMP: The sale of used Stamps and Met Cards provides grants for small projects not covered in the Synod Budget. Please leave the stamps attached to the paper (buyers prefer them, less damage due to handling) and trim (not tear) the stamps leaving a 3mm (1/8 inch) surround. The stamps can then be left at the church. In 2017, approximately $50,000 was raised while over $873,100 has resulted from the program since 1977.
THE “JESUS” MOVIE: It is estimated that this film has been viewed more than 6 billion times (including repeat viewings) throughout the world. Copies of this DVD are available by contacting the Church Office on 9354 1641.
